What drives me out of the apartment to prowl through the city?

I wander through the streets alone- not the relaxing stroll of a summer night, but the tense hurry to get- where? Down alleyways, looking into doorways, peering into half-shuttered windows, wanting someone to talk to and yet afraid to meet anyone. Up one street, and down another, through the endless labyrinth, hurling myself against the neon cage of the city. Searching...for what?- Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

Art thou pale for weariness

Of climbing heaven and gazing on the earth,
Wandering companionless
Among the stars that have a different birth,
And ever changing, like a joyless eye
That finds no object worth its constancy?

A Poison Tree

I was angry with my friend;
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I waterd it in fears,
Night and morning with my tears:
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright.
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.

And into my garden stole.
When the night had veiled the pole;
In the morning glad I see,
My foe outstretchd beneath the tree.

"Chops" Part 1

Once on a yellow piece of paper with green lines he wrote a poem.
And he called it "Chops" because that was the name of his dog and that was what it was all about.
And his teacher gave him an A and a gold star and his mother hung it on the kitchen door and read it to all his aunts. That was the year Father Tracy took all the kids to the zoo and he let them sing on the bus and his little sister was born with tiny toenails and no hair. And his mother and father kissed a lot. And the girl around the corner sent him a valentine signed with a row of X's. And he had to ask his father what the X's ment. And his father tucked him into bed at night. And he was always there to do it. To be continued...

Ghost

I am a ghost.
I'm not the kind that hides under your bed,
Or makes your stairs creak at night.
I'm not the sort of ghost that
Gives you nightmares, or
Makes the hair on the back of you neck
Stand up.
I don't haunt buildings, or
Skulk in graveyards. I'm not
The type of ghost you see on
"Ripley's Believe It or Not,"
or read about in the tabloids.
I'm that kid in school you've seen lots of times,
But have never talked to.
I'm the nerd who hides out in the library,
Face buried in a book.
I'm the boy who can't play sports;
The girl who can't look pretty.
I'm the perfect student who is always smiling,
But inwardly screaming.
I can't speak; can't think; can't feel.
I'm not human; my heart stopped beating
A long time ago.
I am a ghost; a phantom;
A shadow of the person you once knew.
Want to find me?
Turn around, and stare into the faceless crowd. -Author unknown

Intense

It's hard to try and fight all the pain
Because everyday just seems to be the same
There's only so much hurt that a heart can take
Its only time that will pass, before something has to break
After a hard day's night, it's off home on another lonely flight
Through a well rehearsed scene of silence, enough of it, to make you scream, shout and fight
It's never so easy to solve what is yours
It's ever so easy to solve what is not
It all comes together and makes sense
Which is why I always feel, so utterly intense

A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,'
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
